EVE Online from Day One

END.

Well, 6:23 AM today marked the end of Ambar Boktor and his trial account. So sad!

Anyway, some things to report. I ended up with a total of about 8.5 million ISK, not too bad indeed! I made these precious iskies many different ways, from mining to trading to missions to piracy to looting random wrecks to corp wars!

In the middle of the week I joined up with a guy from the EVE Online livejournal community who declared war on an alliance because (as I saw it) he felt like it!

So, we went to war. I got killed once, and killed nobody, but arriving late to a massive battle I managed to grab about 4-5 million isk worth of T2 loot off of one of their wrecks, send a few missiles at an Armageddon, and then ran. I think we can consider that an economic victory, no?

I also engaged in some piracy, the results of which can be seen if you put “Ambar Boktor” into Battleclinic’s killboard. Sure, I didn’t get much loot, but I did manage to have some fun. Look, people, if someone’s ransoming you – pay up! If not, he’s going to kill you, and your shiny frigate/mining ship too! And nobody…well, nobody except for the guy who told me he actually MADE money off of me killing his ship.

But I suspect that he was a bit crazy.

ANYWAY! I spent my last day on the account flying around, gathering up everything I had in various stations, selling stuff and also doing a spot of mining. I also spent about 10 minutes being chased around empire by a group of war targets. It was fun.

Suggestions for making the most money you can in the least amount of time with the least amount of skills:

BUY AS LITTLE AS YOU CAN! Although I went Caldari for this contest, going Amarr means you never have to buy ammo, once you have your crystals. And as many of these drop from rats and the like, you minimize the amount of isk you spend on that sort of thing. Make sure to utilize everything your various tutorial missions give you, and do NOT spend any money on learning skills. Why? Because what you want to do is to train skills necessary to making money depending on your situation. Trading? Train up all the skills that will be helpful for that profession. Fighting? Train those skills. Noticing a pattern here?

If you’re able to do things to make money, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to train those skills UBER FASTZORZ, just get ‘em trained.

Also, while some may think it’s crazy, I suggest joining a corporation that’s involved in at least one war. Fly a cheap ship, and setup some kind of deal with the corp – I bring you X ammo, you let me loot wrecks. If you can get them to pay for the ammo, bonus!

I’m going to publish a more complete guide to newbie moneymakin’ on the EVE forums at some point.

And now, a joke.

A bear walks into a bar and says: “I’d like a beer………………………….and a packet of peanuts.”

The bartender looks at him and says: “Hey, why the long pause?”

Don’t get it? Send Di0 Boli (my main) a million ISK. Just because. :)
